I am an experienced film editor with credits in features, documentaries, commercials and television.
It has been my good fortune to work with a number of talented editors, whose mentorship and passion for the craft have informed my career.
My approach to editing is guided by my own set of professional rules:
Creating a mutually respectful relationship between the director and other creative personnel throughout the crafting of the film.
Acknowledging critical feedback as a valid and necessary element of the editorial process.
Advocating new ideas and their implementation without fearing the prospect of failure.
I began my career working on television commercials at Film Power a NYC editorial boutique.
It was there that I met Joanne Burke,an editor recruited to work on a sales film. We quickly became friends and with her encouragement I branched out into the freelance marketplace, working with her on two documentaries:
"Trouble on Fashion Ave" for PBS and "Labor in the Promised land" for NBC Reports.
I transitioned into television and received an Emmy Award for an ABC Afterschool Special "All That Glitters".
It was during this period when I was offered an opportunity to be an apprentice to noted feature editor Dede Allen.
I jumped at the chance, dismissing the downgrade from editor to apprentice and savoring the chance to be a part of her team.
My dedication and fierce committment to the art of film editing is unwavering and applied to every project in which I am involved.
Please take a tour of my site and thank you for your interest.

Prologue to the video clip of "Old Ways".
While my wife and I were vacationing in Mexico we were introduced to Anado McLauchlin,a local artist and well known presence in the town of San Miguel de Allende.
Over drinks he invited us to a special event he was staging the following day.
I asked if he had any plans to videotape the event and he said no but the following day I was asked to do just that and the result is "Old Ways".
So it is a totally unplanned shoot, shot with an old SD camera and 3 mini dv tapes.
The version on the site is abridged but gets the essence of that day and shows the incredible art that Anado creates.
Please be patient with the loading of the clip because it is close to 30 minutes.
